What does Procurement mean?

A method of obtaining materials or craftsmen for projects and building work.

Procurement is the general term used for obtaining prices and reaching a point at which a contract can be placed. This can be either for services or goods. Public Procurement is the process put in place in accordance with EU guidelines for fair and non-collusive tendering processes used by public bodies and others regulated by the law in this area.

It sets out the primary issues to consider when negotiating or reviewing a business-to-business commercial contract, and includes practical guidance. This Checklist may be suitable for use in low risk contracts where employees who are not legally qualified are authorised to conduct negotiations and contract review. Local housing companies Housing delivery Over a number of years the term local housing company (LHC) has had various meanings in the context of housing delivery vehicles. It was first used post Housing Act 1996 in the context of large scale voluntary transfer of urban estates to a company which had equal representation of the local housing authority (LHA), tenant and independent members and often attracted Government subsidy for example, from the then Estates Regeneration Challenge Fund (ERCF). Memorandum to board accompanying anti-bribery policy Summary The Bribery Act 2010 (BA 2010) came into force on 1 July 2011. BA 2010 applies to any business incorporated or trading in the UK and covers bribery committed on its behalf anywhere in the world. It is substantially broader than previous anti-corruption legislation. BA 2010 makes it explicit that individuals are prohibited from paying or accepting bribes. There is a specific offence of bribing a foreign public official. In addition, a business now commits an offence where bribery is committed on its behalf, unless it has in place adequate procedures to prevent bribery. What constitutes adequate procedures is not defined by BA 2010; it is for businesses to make their own assessment of adequacy.
