This Practice Note considers the acknowledgment of service document. It explains what it is and when it is required together with the consequences that arise from failing to file an acknowledgment of service. The time limits for the acknowledgment are explained, as these are dependent both on which court the matter is proceeding and whether it is a Part 7 or Part 8 claim form. The rules for the acknowledgment of service are set out in Part 10 for Part 7 claims and in Part 8 for Part 8 claims.

For guidance on completing an acknowledgment of service form, see Practice Note: Acknowledgment of serviceā€”completing the form.
