Our REAL Models series showcases the diverse range of roles we have across our business and we hope to improve knowledge around what it means to be part of something bigger. We believe being part of UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ means being part of the change you want to see in the world.
In this month's edition, we meet:
Hannah Tsoi, Software Engineer.
Hannah joined the company in July 2017 as a Consultant in the Content Solutions team, in the Woking office. Straight out of a software training camp, this was technically Hannah's first job.
Hannah said, "A year in, I was made a permanent UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ employee, and since then, they've been stuck with me!"
As a Software Engineer, Hannah is responsible for producing and maintaining the value that we provide to customers through our software products. Hannah deals with a variety of products and systems, but recently has been part of one of the fantastic teams making Lexis+ AI a reality in the UK!
We've announced the launch of our commercial preview of Lexis+ AI in the UK. Lexis+ AI has been carefully trained on UK law and legal cases.
Hannah's also part of the amazing LNUK Pride Employee Resource Group, where she runs events and sits as the communications lead.

"My alarm goes off at 8am, unless I'm in the office (hey, sleep is important!)*. At which point, I gently go through the usual human tasks and complete any reasonable chores before starting my workday.
*note from author: we strongly agree, yes, sleep is important!
"A typical day usually involves reading emails and carrying on with the little to-dos before the daily stand-up. The stand-up is unfortunately not comedy, but a brief meeting where we go over our teams work and check for blockers. I'll then be assigned to a ticket, often with someone else in my team.
"Our pair will then join a call together and spend the day programming and collaborating with other departments and teams, such as product, where required. There will also be a few other meetings sprinkled in there."
"I like to prepare delicious food to eat (experiments don't always work though!), and then I kick back and relax with some computer games."
"My first team had a lot of foodies (including myself), so I have good memories of the excitement of picking and eating out at many places, such as some delicious dosa near Kings Cross."
"It's been a rare thing to not look forward to work, and that's because the people I work with, day in and day out, are so cool, great and empathetic. They make UUÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ amazing!"
"It's a well-known tale and sort of expected, that a junior software engineer will eventually push something into production that would break things and I am no exception. Thankfully, it was minor, but I still remember the panic!"
"At the start of my career, I wasn't a very good advocate for all the great work I was doing, so when I got a manager who actually saw that and would help me get the recognition for it, I flew upwards, not just in career progression but self-progression.
"I now have the confidence to not just support myself, but others too."
"Book a recurring meeting in your calendar for lunch! Not a 100% guarantee to avoid lunchtime meetings, but at least it makes people thing about it."
"But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow; even darkness must pass."
