How are VAT returns submitted to the tax authorities?Electronic filing is compulsory for all businesses in Denmark. VAT returns are submitted online through the 'TastSelv Erhverv' service (in English, 'E-tax for businesses') via the Danish tax authority's website:

In order to access the system, the user will need to order either a 'TastSelv' code or a 'NemID' (in English, 'Easy ID').

The TastSelv code can be ordered through the website above. It will be sent via normal post to the registered address of the company. It usually takes eight to ten days to receive the code.

The NemID is a common secure login (consisting of a user ID, a password and a code card containing one-time passwords) for the tax authority's online platforms and the online mailbox system:
